Car 54, Where Are You?, an American television series created by Nat Hiken and starring Joe E. Ross, Fred Gwynne, and Paul Reed, is often considered one of the best television comedies ever produced. From 1961 to 1963, Officers Toody and Muldoon were among the most unlikely patrol car partners ever seen on a police force. Toody was short, stocky, and just a bit nosy, a marked contrast to the tall, quiet Muldoon. Although they were assigned to New York's fictional 53rd precinct—a run down area of the Bronx not generally considered a hot bead of hilarity—they always seemed to encounter more comedy than crime.

From the episode "Something Nice for Sol" to the classic Christmas episode of 1961, this light-hearted comedy offered a heart-warming approach to a police force at work. The comedy was invariably of the broad slapstick variety reminiscent of silent movie producer Mack Sennett, and one episode even saluted the Keystone Cops!

Author Martin Grams, Jr. has researched and compiled the ultimate resource for the series, including biographies on the lead actors, the creation of the series, detailed listings of all sixty episode and their broadcast history, cast lists, plot summaries, and behind-the-scenes stories.

"I recently got a great book on the history of the Car 54 TV show. It's written by Martin Grams, Jr. and by the way, if you'd like a copy, you can order it here. Among the many other miracles of research managed by Mr. Grams, he got his mitts on the files of Howard Epstein, an executive who was involved with the TV series. In those files was a letter from this man, Paul C. Ignizio, who was looking for writing work on the show. He sent as a sample, a copy of a Car 54 comic book he wrote for Dell and also stated that he'd written comics for them of Laurel & Hardy, Diver Dan and The Twist."
